Manhattan High girls’ swimming had another successful venture in the pool on Friday, taking first overall in the Indians fourth meet on the season in Marion.

MHS had a strong showing across the board despite only walking away with two individual gold medals.

Samantha Tarter won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:03.99 while Ruth Perez finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.35). Perez also finished second in the 50 freestyle (27.82).

Tarter and Perez also nabbed two more second-place finishes in relays. The two teamed up with Ava McKee and Ellyn Campbell in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:09.56, and then joined Campbell and Caris Goering, taking second in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:13.81.

Goering took third in the 200 freestyle (2:15.92) and McKee took third in the 200 IM (2:36.45) and the 500 freestyle (6:20.76). Tarter took third in the 50 freestyle (28.12), and Campbell placed third in the 100 freestyle (1:07.6).

The meet was the final of the regular season before the Centennial League meet on May 9 in Topeka at Hummer Park.
