Chad Kinsley will succeed Robert Reece as Pottawatomie County administrator, effective Jan. 8.

Kinsley was appointed acting administrator July 29, and was subsequently named by the commission as Reece’s replacement Aug. 5 by a 2-1 vote.

Commission Chair Travis Altenhofen voted against the measure, saying he was not ready to make a decision on the county administrator position.

Kinsley, 44, has five years of administrative experience with Pott County, beginning in October 2014 as management assistant of operations. In that position he oversaw the county’s public transportation system, utility billing structure, inventory management, grant administration and provided support to the county administrator.

Kinsley, who lives in the Wamego area, has a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in finance from Trident University International in California. He has also completed the one-year certified public manager’s course through the University of Kansas.

Kinsley will step into the administrator’s position Jan. 8 — Reece’s official retirement date. Reece, county administrator for more than 20 years, submitted his letter of retirement in July and was placed on paid administrative leave for six months.
