A judge on Tuesday delayed sentencing for a Riley man convicted of robbing another man at gunpoint.

Twenty-six-year-old Brandon Welty appeared before Judge Grant Bannister on Tuesday in Riley County District Court.

Welty was arrested for aggravated battery in January after he held a man at gunpoint and stole his backpack. Prosecutors later chose to lower the charge to a robbery and aggravated assault.

Welty’s next appearance will be a status conference on Sept. 3.

Nineteen-year-old Joseph Bauer Jr., who allegedly was involved in the incident with Welty, appeared in court on Monday for similar charges. He will face a jury trial in November.
